Welcome to Chalfonts U3A

The NOTICEBOARD should be your first port of call when you visit the website, because it's on this page we will put any notices about groups, events, useful information etc. It's here you will find the latest information about what's happening within Chalfonts U3A. A regular visit should ensure you don't miss anything you may be interested in.

  • The Photography group went along to the Gerrards Cross Classic Car Show.

  • The Excursions group went to Buckingham Palace on Tuesday 7th August.

  • The New Experiences group have been out doing (semi) dangerous things again!

  • Our Chairman's message for our current year, 2018-2019, is now on the Home page and the Noticeboard.

  • We now have a new Advice To Convenors document. There is a link to it on both the Group Convenors page and the Noticeboard.

  • The Garden Visits group went to Waterperry and the Oxford Botanic Gardens on Wednesday 25th July. There is now a gallery of photographs for members to view of their visit.

  • We now have a new group, Spanish Conversation, starting on Wednesday 8th August. The first meeting is from 3pm to 4.30pm in the CSP Community Centre.

  • TVN (Thames Valley Network) have organised a Study Day for members who want to find out more about how to build a website using WordPress. There is an information flyer link and an application form on the piece that tell members more about the Study Day. Places for it are probably going to fill quickly. It's being run by our own Webmaster, Tony Darbyshire and Chris Moss who looks after the website for the new Bourne End U3A. If you are interested you probably need to book early as the TVN has more than 20,000 members now and it's likely that places will go quickly.

  • We now have a new group for the craft of Crochet. The Group Convenor is Jennette Galettly and she is looking for more members to join her.

  • The Photography Group visited the annual Swan Upping event at Marlow and Henley. We've put a picture up (and will add more by the end of the month) of the 'action'!

  • The GDPR (General Data Protection Regulations) came into force in May 2018. We have written a short, concise paper on the Chalfonts U3A policy and it's now on the website for members to read and understand.

  • A new event on Medicine & Art is being put on in November 2018 by the TVN (Thames Valley Network) and may be of interest to members. The flyer and Application Form are there for members to view.

  • We have now replaced the Membership Form on the Membership section of our website. This reflects the need to comply with the new General Data Protection legislation brought in in May 2018.

  • July monthly meeting information now added - Talk on Medical Detection Dogs.

  • We've now added a video slideshow of the Garden Visits group visit to Craiglea House.

  • A gallery of photographs of the Garden Visits group to Craiglea House has been put up. (They visited one of our member's gardens on 28 June).

  • Details of the August Monthly Meeting - 1421 & The Ming Dynasty; Guest Speaker is Roger Shaw.

  • Excursions Group have organised their latest trip to Buckingham Palace and Gardens.

  • Full report on the June Monthly Meeting is up for members to read and see what Dr. Helen Fry's talk was about.

  • Brief details of our Monthly Meeting for July is now on the Noticeboard.
