Computing – More Information

Our Objectives

  • To learn basic computer skills

  • To learn how to make the most of a personal computer

Meeting Frequency

We meet once a month on the second Thursday from 2pm to 4pm. We currently meet in the CSP Community Library (Next to the car park of the Co-op store) where we have access to the video/audio system. This may change in the future if the library withdraws their offer to us of free access. Members will be informed of any changes in good time if we need to change our venue.

Note that the Library is closed on Thursday and the front door is kept locked. Members need to walk around to the back of the building and gain access via the rear door.

Ability Level

We welcome all levels of computing experience and will try to offer a programme of talks/discussions that will be of interest to all. We currently have an email circulation list of 70 U3A members.

Meeting Format

The Format of the meetings has developed initially by with illustrated talks on a specific subject like Excel, Windows 10, and iPad. We do not focus on either the Mac or the Windows PC Operating Systems but both of these are used.

We try and keep an archive of our meeting content on our pages and any member of Chalfonts U3A, regardless of whether they are members of the group, can access the Meeting Archives. Please go to the main page of the Computing Group to find the links.

We aim to keep the meetings relaxed and enjoyable, with a break for tea/coffee/biscuits roughly half way through. We ask members to make a small contribution to the pot for the victuals we consume. Usually around 50 pence is sufficient at each meeting.

Even some of our so called experts learn something new!

We welcome new members of all standard especially anyone willing to learn more.
